This program may be started at any campus and is completed at Penn State University Park.
The major is a preprofessional interdepartmental program offered by the Departments of Dairy and Animal Science, Poultry Science, and Veterinary Science. Students have the opportunity to acquire a foundation in the biological and natural sciences (calculus, physics, inorganic and organic chemistry, biochemistry, biology, genetics, and physiology). During the last four semesters, course selections may emphasize specific disciplines related to animal biology, such as physiology, immunology, and toxicology. Graduates of the program continue their education in veterinary schools, other professional programs in the health sciences, and graduate study in disciplines related to animal biology. Graduates may accept positions as technicians in research and development in the biomedical industry, or as technical service representatives for agriculturally related companies and organizations.
The B.S. in Animal Bioscience is offered by Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences.
