Whenever people get together, on the job or at home, socially or professionally, they communicate. That's why employers rate communication as the number one personal skill they seek in employees. Communication Arts and Sciences majors study how communication can be used to solve problems, function in organizations, manage conflict, lead and influence people, form relationships, express ideas, think critically, and understand politics, language, and culture. Communication Arts and Sciences includes studies in both verbal and nonverbal messages, providing skills needed in management and supervision, sales and marketing, training and consultation, politics, and the media.
The B.A. in Communication Arts and Sciences is offered by Penn State's College of the Liberal Arts.
Communication Arts and Sciences at Penn State Delaware County or York
This program may be started at any campus and is completed only at Penn State Delaware County or York.
This major is designed to help students develop the skills necessary to communicate effectively in today's business environment. Companies need people who can communicate clearly and effectively; these skills are important when dealing with other divisions within a company, externally with customers or vendors, or in the legal profession. Students may combine the Communication Arts and Sciences major with a Business minor to prepare for a variety of careers. Some of the roles and career opportunities available include sales /marketing, law, public information, customer service, administration, and health-related fields.
