This program may be started at any campus and is completed only at Penn State Erie.

Students in this major take courses in organizational communication, business and professional speaking, group dynamics, expository writing, and media writing. Students select additional courses from such areas as business and technical writing, communication theory, diction, advanced public speaking, video production, and advanced editing. Students may combine theoretical with practical learning by completing a senior research project or internship under the supervision of a professional communications practitioner. The major helps students prepare for a variety of communications- related careers. Theoretical and practical training in written and oral communication provides preparation for positions in corporate communications, labor relations, personnel, public relations, or technical writing.

The B.A. in Communication and Media Studies is offered by Penn State's Behrend College.
