Computer Engineering*

Penn State offers several degrees in computer engineering, each of which is completed at a different location.

Computer Engineering at Penn State University Park
This program may be started at any campus and is completed at Penn State University Park.

Computer engineering deals with the practical aspects of design and utilization of computer systems for information processing. Students learn hardware design and software systems, as well as the theory and applications of computers. The Computer Engineering major covers a broad range of subjects, including fundamental programming skills and electrical signals and circuits, logic design, microprocessors, very large scale integrated circuits, computer architecture, operating systems, database systems, programming languages, data communications, and artificial intelligence. Graduates should have a clear understanding of the design and applications of computers, and be able to apply such knowledge throughout their professional careers.

The B.S. in Computer Engineering is offered by Penn State's College of Engineering.

Computer Engineering at Penn State Erie
This program may be started at any campus and is completed only at Penn State Erie.

This major provides a strong foundation in computer engineering through a combination of classroom study and laboratory work. This foundation prepares students for an engineering career or further study at the graduate level. Course work includes sequences in computer engineering, mathematics, and physical sciences. These courses are structured carefully to provide the breadth and depth of knowledge required of today's engineer. Students consult with a faculty adviser to complete the program by selecting technical elective courses that emphasize a specific area of study. In addition, during their final two semesters, students work in small groups on a senior design project.

The B.S. in Computer Engineering is offered by Penn State's Behrend College.

*Accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the ABET, 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD, 21202-4012; telephone, 410-347-7700.
