Penn State offers several degrees in electrical engineering, each of which is completed at a different location.
Electrical Engineering at Penn State University Park
This program may be started at any campus and is completed only at Penn State University Park.
An electrical engineer is responsible for integrating electronic devices, computer systems, and electricity into all facets of our daily lives. The B.S. degree begins with a first-year emphasis on math, physics, and chemistry. In the second and third years, most of the course work provides a broad exposure to the many aspects of electrical engineering. As a senior, the student can select from over 30 technical electives allowing for specialization in the following areas: communications, computer systems, control systems, electromagnetics, electronic design, optics, power systems, remote sensing, semi-conductor devices, or signal and image processing. Our program prepares its graduates for both professional careers and advanced study at the graduate level. Career opportunities include research, product design and development, manufacturing, technical management, and technical sales.
The B.S. in Electrical Engineering is offered by Penn State's College of Engineering.
Electrical Engineering at Penn State Erie
This program may be started at any campus and is completed only at Penn State Erie.
This major provides a strong foundation for an engineering career or graduate study. Course work includes sequences in electrical engineering, mathematics, and physical science that are designed to provide the breadth of knowledge required of today's engineer. In consultation with a faculty adviser, students complete the program by selecting elective courses that provide emphasis within a specific area of study. These may include signal processing, controls, communications, power systems, digital electronics, or microprocessors. This is in addition to a two semester sequence in which students work in small groups on a senior design project, frequently with engineers from local industry.
The B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology is offered by Penn State's Behrend College.
Electrical Engineering at Penn State Harrisburg
