Soil scientists work outdoors to inventory and evaluate soil resources for human use. They are employed by federal, state, and local agencies; private industry; and consulting firms. They attempt to understand the role of soils and land use on our environment, help maintain the quality of soils and water resources for future generations, and understand the effects of soil use and management on everyone.
The B.S. in Soil Science is offered by Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences.
