Geographers describe and explain spatial patterns of environmental and human features on the Earth's surface. Physical geographers study how climate variation, ecosystems, and landfrom processes operate and interact with human activities. Human geographers study historical patterns of settlement, the economic/political/social implications of policy decisions at all levels of society, population and development issues, and land use. The B.S. degree has the following options: General, Physical/Environmental, Urban and Regional Development, and Geographic Information Science. The Geographical Information Systems Laboratory and Gould Center for Geography Education and Outreach provide outstanding opportunities for research and training. Graduates find careers as cartographers, planners, environmental and marketing specialists, writiers, and teachers.
The B.A. and B.S. in Geography is offered by the Penn State's College of Earth and Mineral Sciences.
