This program may be started at any campus and is completed at Penn State University Park.
This major provides students with the technical and managerial skills necessary to address the occupational health and safety concerns associated with the extraction and utilization activities of the minerals and fuels industries, the construction industry, and other heavy industries. Students receive a background in the basic sciences, followed by a core program emphasizing the nature of the various industries, as well as the economic, technical, and policy issues of occupational health and safety. Graduates are prepared for employment as safety professionals. Opportunities also exist in research organizations and private consulting companies.
The B.S. in Industrial Health and Safety is offered by Penn State's College of Earth and Mineral Sciences.
