Landscape contracting involves interpreting and executing landscape designs, as well as constructing and maintaining landscapes. This curriculum includes creative and business instruction as well as the technical and maintenance skills essential to the landscape contracting profession. Students study residential planning, planting design, construction, plant materials, maintenance practices, and computer applications. Students also receive multidisciplinary instruction in support areas such as graphics, soils, turfgrass management, disease and insect control, and business management. Employment opportunities exist at many levels for graduates of this program. Students may be employed by landscape design/ build firms, nurseries, garden centers, parks, or municipalities.
The B.S. in Landscape Contracting is offered by Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences.
