Letters, Arts, and Sciences

Penn State offers several degrees in Letters, Arts, & Sciences, each of which is completed at a different location.

Letters, Arts, and Sciences at Penn State University Park
This program may be started at any campus and is completed only at Penn State University Park.

This multidisciplinary major allows students to design their own programs within certain prescribed boundaries. With an adviser's assistance, a student in this major develops an individualized course of study that thematically links courses from different disciplines. Students design programs within six options: Arts; Humanities; Social and Behavioral Sciences; Science and Mathematics; Science, Technology, and Society; and Liberal Studies.

The B.A. degree in Letters, Arts, and Sciences is offered by Penn State's College of the Liberal Arts.

Letters, Arts, and Sciences at Penn State Abington, Altoona, Beaver, Delaware County, DuBois, Fayette, Greater Allegheny, Hazleton, Shenango, Wilkes-Barre, York, World Campus
This program may be started at any campus and is completed only at Penn State Abington, Altoona, Beaver, Delaware County, DuBois, Fayette, Greater Allegheny, Hazleton, Shenango, Wilkes-Barre, York, or World Campus.

This major allows for a high degree of flexibility and choice in determining the courses a student may select to satisfy the requirements for the bachelor of arts degree. The major offers the opportunity to select the option of concentrated study that best supports the student's career or educational goals. Students should consult with their advisers when determining which option to take. Available options are Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Science/Mathematics, and Liberal Studies. Students can use the Liberal Studies option to structure a program of study around their individual interests and career plans.
