Media Studies

This program may be started at any campus and is completed at Penn State University Park.

This major emphasizes academic development by introducing a wide range of approaches to understanding media, culture, and society. Four options are offered. Media Theory and Research focuses on the study of mass communications from the perspective of the social scientist or humanist. International Communications is designed for students who want to study world mass media systems and their role in international affairs. Film and Television Studies is designed for students interested in studying the art, history, and criticism of film and television. In the General option, students and faculty advisers tailor a program to meet individual interests.

The B.A. in Media Studies is offered by Penn State's College of Communications.

Please note: The University may make changes in policies, procedures, educational offerings, and requirements at any time. Please consult the most recent Degree Programs Bulletin for more detailed information.
