Minors

If you are interested in a second discipline , or there is a discipline that complements your major discipline, you might want to pursue a minor . A minor is a specialization in a particular area of interest that supplements a major.

A minor program may consist of 18 or more credits in a single area or from several discipline areas. Students do not have to be enrolled in the college that offers a particular minor in order to pursue that minor. Furthermore, students can complete more than one minor if they are interested in developing an emphasis in additional disciplines.

The department offering the program establishes the requirements for minors. Students usually apply for minors once they are enrolled in a major and have completed a minimum of 60 credits.

If you are interested in pursuing a minor, you should consult with your academic adviser early in your academic career so you may plan accordingly.
