This program may be started at any campus and is completed at Penn State University Park.
Penn State has been an important center for training petroleum and natural gas engineers for more than fifty years. Its graduates are found worldwide in all branches of the industry and include top executives in some of the nation's top oil companies. The program emphasizes a strong foundation of basic science and engineering theory and practice, with special emphasis on reservoir engineering and management. Students are taught the "whys" and "hows" of carrying out operations in the extraction of oil and gas resources. They are encouraged to gain industry experience. There are many opportunities to become involved in research projects.
The B.S. in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering is offered by Penn State's College of Earth and Mineral Sciences.
