This interdisciplinary major aims to provide a broad, general education in science. The B.S. degree program includes options in General Science, Life Science, Mathematical Science, and Physical Science. The curriculum is designed specifically for students who have educational goals not readily met in one of the other Eberly College of Science majors, or for those who need a higher degree of flexibility to meet their educational objectives. A large number of supporting credits permits students to include a minor or course sequences in business, education, exercise science, technical writing, or other fields. Many students use this program to prepare for graduate school, professional schools, or employment in science-related disciplines.

B.S/M.B.A. Program
This program may be started at any campus and is completed at Penn State University Park.
An accelerated five-year Science B.S./M.B.A. program offered in cooperation with Penn State's Smeal College of Business is available for select students who wish to combine an undergraduate program in business administration. This program also incorporates summer work experience as part of required credits.

This major helps students prepare for a wide variety of careers, from science-specific vocations to business and law, which increasingly demand knowledge of the sciences. Students may also use the major as preparation for graduate and professional study in fields such as medicine, dentistry, and veterinary medicine. This program aims to provide a broad science education, with several degree options available. The large number of elective credits allows a student to include course sequences in nonscience areas such as education, business, foreign language, technical writing, or allied health.

The Science major at Penn State Altoona is a flexible, interdisciplinary program that helps students prepare for a wide variety of careers, from science-specific vocations to graduate and professional study, including medical and law school. This program allows students to remain at Penn State Altoona to complete all degree requirements. The Science major provides a strong foundation in the basic sciences (biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics), significant opportunities for undergraduate research by working closely with faculty, and a diverse selection of 400-level science courses. Students may select an option in Life Science, Physical Science, Mathematical Science, or the General option.

This major offers two options: General and Life Science. Many students from this major go on to graduate school in some specific science discipline or to professional school in areas such as medicine, dentistry, optometry, podiatry, chiropractic, law, or business. Other students seek immediate employment in a wide variety of science-related disciplines, such as sales or service in chemical or drug companies, technical assistants in biological laboratories, research in industry or government, science writing, education, etc.

This major emphasizes a strong liberal arts background as well as scientific training in a number of disciplines. By allowing students to acquire general scientific training along with one study emphasis, the Science major is useful for those whose needs are not met by a more specific major. Laboratory training is required to help students apply theory learned in class. The program provides broad, general training with a background in science. It allows students to prepare for graduate studies in their fields of interest or pursue an educational objective not available through a specific subject major.

The B.S. in Science at Penn State Harrisburg is an interdisciplinary degree that aims to provide a broad general education in Science. After completing foundation courses in calculus, chemistry, physics, and the life sciences, students select additional science courses from designated areas to earn the B.S. with an option in either General Science or the Life Sciences. This degree program offers a multidisciplinary science education that can lead to specialization in either the Life Sciences or General Science and also to the development of expertise in a wide variety of specialized foci. After completing foundation courses in calculus, chemistry, physics, and the life sciences, students will select additional courses that will give them a focus in areas such as General Life Sciences, Environmental Life Sciences, Cell and Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Chemistry, Applied Math, Applied Physics, or General Science. Students can also choose from a variety of non-science supporting courses that will give them additional background in such areas as IST, Business, Communications, or Liberal Arts. Students in this major typically find a variety of careers in the sciences, or enter into graduate and professional degree programs. It also offers the necessary broad scientific electives, produces graduates who are prime candidates for jobs in nontraditional science-related areas, such as business, lab management, patent and intellectual property law, information technology, and liberal arts-related work, such as communications, publishing, science writing, illustrations, etc.
