This program may be started at any campus and is completed only at Penn State Erie.
Software is both critical and pervasive in modern society, improving life in a wide variety of applications. The software required for these systems is complex and can no longer be programmed by individuals working in isolation, but must be properly engineered and maintained by teams of professionals. This is driving the need for engineers who are not only effective programmers, but also have the ability to analyze, design, implement, and maintain complex software systems. This is the field of software engineering. Many of today's opportunities require engineers with a diverse background. The Software Engineering degree program is a multidisciplinary degree program designed to meet this need. It blends engineering design, computer science, information systems, and project management principles.
The degree in Software Engineering is offered by Penn State's Behrend College.
