The Spanish major seeks to provide students with a degree of proficiency in Spanish, the official language of many countries and the second language for millions of people in the United States. The major also familiarizes students with Hispanic literature and culture. The bachelor of arts degree program is designed primarily for students who wish to continue for an advanced degree and eventually teach at the college level. The bachelor of science degree includes two options: Applied Spanish and Business.

The B.A. and B.S. degrees in Spanish are offered by Penn State's College of the Liberal Arts.
