This major provides a well-rounded basic education in structural and construction principles. Included in the curriculum are: general engineering concepts; the use of construction methods; techniques in estimating and scheduling; aspects of construction management; design principles in steel, wood, and concrete relating to structural as well as foundation systems; applied computer methods; and an awareness of integrated application of the project. Graduates are sought after by a variety of employers including consulting engineers, contractors, private industry, and government agencies.
The B.S. in Structural Design and Construction Engineering Technology is offered by Penn State's Capital College.
