If you cannot decide on a major choice, don't worry. You are not alone. More than 80% of Penn State first-year students come to school uncertain about their major choice. Penn State offers plenty of time to decide, since most students do not have to declare their official major until the end of their sophomore year. If you are sure you want to study something in a certain college, like science or the education, but are not sure about a specific major, you can enroll in the college and work with an adviser to decide on a major. If you are considering a variety of majors in different academic colleges, you will want to enroll in the Division of Undergraduate Studies (DUS), which advises students who are considering majors in different colleges.
Note: Transfer students are not eligible for admission to the Division of Undergraduate Studies; an academic major must be specified.
