This major may be started at any campus and is completed only at Penn State Berks and Penn State Lehigh Valley.
The Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing offers students effective career preparation in writing leading to employment in a wide variety of professional positions. At the same time, the degree program offers learners the opportunity to study great literature, the arts, humanities, science, and business, allowing them to combine a strong liberal arts foundation with practical writing experience. Students in the degree program work closely with faculty who are dedicated to providing meaningful learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom. Students have the opportunity to learn to write effectively in a variety of workplace and academic settings, gain practical experience in organizational settings through an internship, and develop a professional portfolio for a career or for admission to graduate school. Graduates of this degree often obtain employment in the following fields: writing, editing, publishing, advertising/public relations, business administration/management, technical writing, and teaching.
