How We Evaluate Your Application

Applicants are assessed on the basis of academic performance and English language proficiency.

Academic Performance

Each application is reviewed individually. We are looking for academically talented students who have demonstrated very strong performance in an academic preparatory program that would lead to university entrance in their home countries.

If, after completing secondary school, an applicant has enrolled at a university or an institution of higher education, the performance there must also be strong. Some programs may require completion of prerequisite course work.

Visit our transfer student academic requirements to learn more about this.

We cannot disregard your performance at the post-secondary level and consider you for admission as a first-year student.

English Language Proficiency

Applicants who are not native speakers of English must demonstrate English language proficiency by satisfying one of the following requirements:

A score of 550 or higher on the paper/pencil Test of English as a Foreign language (TOEFL), a score of 213 on the computer-based TOEFL, or a score of 80 on the Web-based TOEFL.

A score of 530 or higher on the critical reading portion of the SAT.

A pass in English language graded A, B, or C on the GCSE or O Level Examination.

A grade of 6.5 or higher on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination.

Applicants who have been in a U.S. college or university and have completed two years of full-time academic course work and have a grade of C (2.0) or higher in a standard English composition course will also meet the language proficiency requirement.
