NUTRN 513 ATHEROSCLEROSIS AND NUTRITION ( 2) The etiology and pathophysiology of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, with emphasis on nutritionally-related aspects. Prerequisite: NUTR 452

NUTRN 514 (V SC) PROSTAGLANDINS AND LEUKOTRIENES ( 3) Biochemical, physiological, and nutritional aspects of arachidonic acid and related essential fatty acid metabolism. Structure-activity relationships of prostaglandins, prostacyclins, thromboxanes, and leukotrienes. Prerequisite: BIOCH 402 or BIOCH 437

NUTRN 515 MATHEMATICAL MODELING IN NUTRITION ( 2) Study of the theory and application of mathematical modeling of the tracer and tracee kinetics of nutrients and their metabolites in animals and man. Prerequisite: MATH 140 or MATH 141

NUTRN 567 THE CHEMICAL SENSES (TASTE AND SMELL) ( 2) Physiology, psychophysics, and genetics of taste and smell; relation between the chemical senses and nutrition; taste and smell in special populations.

NUTRN 581 REGULATION OF NUTRIENT METABOLISM I ( 4) Integration of nutritional, biomedical, biochemical, physiological, and hormonal processes involved in carbohydrate, lipid, and protein metabolism. Prerequisite: B M B 211 , NUTR 450

NUTRN 595B APPLICATION OF FOOD SERVICE MANAGEMENT -- INTERNSHIP ( 3) Application and integration of food service management principles and motivation theories in a practicum environment under the supervision of preceptor.

NUTRN 595C APPLICATION OF BASIC CLINICAL NUTRITION -- INTERNSHIP ( 1) Application and integration of basic clinical nutrition theories in a variety of clinical environments under the supervision of a preceptor.

NUTRN 595D APPLICATION OF ADVANCED CLINICAL NUTRITION -- INTERNSHIP ( 4) Application and integration of advanced clinical nutrition theories in a practicum environment under the supervision of preceptor.

NUTRN 595E INTRODUCTION TO NUTRITION RESEARCH -- INTERNSHIP ( 1) Introduction of nutrition research to assist in the understanding of planning and conducting research studies in a variety of nutrition research laboratories.

NUTRN 595F PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO INTERNSHIP ( 1) Designing and completing a professional portfolio to assist in the employment process in the field of dietetics.

NUTRN 596 INDIVIDUAL STUDIES ( 1 - 9) Creative projects, including nonthesis research, which are supervised on an individual basis and which fall outside the scope of formal courses.
