What is a Myth?

 

  1. A narrative dealing with supernatural beings, e.g. gods, goddesses, nymphs, etc.

  2. An oral tradition handed down through generations

  3. A belief held by a group or community, which the community feels it "owns" and should always retell.

  4. A world view, including the origins of objects, foods, and customs.

  5. A narrative which takes place in "sacred time," connected with other narratives in a "myth family."
