Bill Mahon stated that USA Today may come to PSU regarding a collection of stories that are being compiled regarding alcohol problems on college campuses.
Tom King gave a report from the National Summit on Preventing Civil Disturbances held in Iowa, November 10th and 11th.
Rob Turrisi Presentation: Alcohol Prevention Targeted Toward Parents of First Year Students
Rob Turrisi gave the presentation which outlined the research results of how parents make a difference in the link between their children and alcohol during the first year of college and that the family based approach really does make a difference.
Discussion afterwards included:
Ken Healy commenting on the 2 year study being currently conducted by the PLCB.
Bill Mahon suggested that a note to parents be sent to parents 1-2 weeks before classes begin with a link to Rob’s study.
