Library Guides on ANGEL

If you use ANGEL, please consider adding library links to your ANGEL site. The library has a general guide for Angel, and we can create class-specific guides at your request. Class-specific pages could contain links to databases focused on your subject area and instructions for how to make the best use of these databases, catalog links, and links to valuable web pages. Contact Bonnie Imler at bbi1@psu.edu or 949-5499 for more information.

Web Modules

The Penn State University Libraries provide two excellent web modules: "Information Literacy and You" and "The Information Cycle." Both modules are entirely web-based and the Information Literacy module offers short quizzes at the end of each section. You decide how much or little you would like to present to your class, and you can use the modules without contacting the library. These resources are ideal for First Year Seminar, English 4, or English 15 classes, but can also serve as a good refresher for upper-level classes. Eiche Library's homepage provides local information about how to find material in our library.

Research Alerts

Would you like to help your students become more efficient researchers? Interested in streamlining your own research to learn about new articles in your field as they're published?

Take a look at Eiche Library's new Multisearch information sheets. This new database compiler allows researchers to search multiple databases with one click of the mouse.

Our handouts will help you

  • Set up your personal account
  • Select and save the databases you want to search
  • Save a search on your favorite topic and set it to send a report to your email daily, weekly, or monthly
  • Guide your students to set up their own accounts, saving the databases that you would like for them to use for research

If you would like live instruction in addition to the handouts, contact us and a librarian will be happy to work with you to determine the best databases for your students to use. We can come to your class at the start of the semester and help your students set up their personalized research accounts so that they'll be better prepared for their assignments.
