Closing

The library closes at the time listed on the door. That means everybody is out and the doors are locked. Fifteen minutes before closing we flick the lights and tell people to go home. A line forms at the circulation desk for last minute borrowers and usually is not completely gone until closing. The staff has to collect statistics, check all doors, turn off all machines and perform a number of routine operations before closing. So when we say the library closes at 10:00 PM, that doesn't mean you can stay here till 10:00 PM - it means that all staff and library users are out, all machines are off, all doors are locked, alarms are turned on, routine is performed by 10:00 PM. --Tim Wherry, Head Librarian
