Hello and welcome to the Diversity Educators Network (DEN). The DEN is a new initiative established by the Affirmative Action Office at Penn State University. The DEN will serve as a network for diversity advocates and educators in the Penn State community to share best practices and resources and to provide support for one another. This network will also act as a resource for the greater community to be able to call upon experts in a specific functional area to provide workshops and trainings.
The DEN has members who are experienced diversity and inclusion practitioners and educator, as well as individuals seeking training and an opportunity to enhance their skills in order to become diversity educators.
Time commitment
The time commitment is minimal overall. Our office will provide an annual meeting that all DEN members are expected to attend. We will also offer training throughout the year for those interested in becoming a diversity educator or enhancing their skills. The Train the Trainer program will be announced at a later date. You may receive a request to provide a training or workshop. Accepting the opportunity will depend upon your availability. Please check back here for further information regarding Train the Trainer certification.
2012 meeting
The first annual DEN meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the Bryce Jordan Center, Founder’s Lounge from 11am-2pm. This meeting will be an opportunity for all DENmembers to network. The overall vision of the DEN will be presented during this time. Members who are unable to attend can access a portion of the training via Adobe Connect.
