The School of Nursing's
associate degree program is accredited
by the National League for Nursing Accrediting
Commission (NLNAC), 61 Broadway, New
York, NY 10006, 212-363-5555, and is
approved by the Pennsylvania State Board
of Nursing.
The associate degree nursing program
prepares graduates for employment in a
variety of health care settings, such
as hospitals or long-term care facilities.
An admitted, licensed practical nurse may be eligible to earn
credit by portfolio (8 credits) and examination (8 credits) for up to 16 credits
of nursing course work. As nursing professionals,
graduates collaborate with colleagues
in nursing and other disciplines to provide
direct care to patients, develop nursing care plans, and assist clients in
developing healthy life styles. Graduates qualify to sit for the national examination for licensure as registered professional nurses (NCLEX). In addition, graduates may qualify for
admission to the baccalaureate degree
