Students specializing in finance learn about the complexities and heavy responsibilities of money management. Depending on their interests, students can involve themselves in programs covering financial markets, the management of financial institutions, analysis of investments and securities, or corporate decision making. Graduates in finance may become analysts of stocks and bonds for investment companies, banks, or insurance firms. They also may go on to become financial analysts for corporations, hold management positions in banking, or work as brokers of stocks and bonds. A master's degree will allow for a greater number of job options.

Finance at Penn State Erie
This program may be started at any campus and is completed only at Penn State Erie.
This major provides students with a firm foundation in the principles of finance and its major areas (financial management, investments, and financial markets). Course work is designed to lead to professional certification in financial analysis. Students have job opportunities in a variety of positions with mutual funds, brokerage firms, banks, and insurance companies, as well as positions in corporate finance. The program provides students with the depth and breadth of knowledge necessary to prepare for Level I of the Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) Exam.

This program may be started at any campus and is completed only at Penn State Harrisburg.
This major is designed for students seeking careers in banking or in corporate, investment, public, or international finance, as well as those who intend to pursue graduate study in finance. Graduates may then prepare to seek certificates in financial analysis (CFA) and financial planning (CFP). Each student's background is complemented with basic business instruction in accounting, marketing, and information systems. With business and nonbusiness electives, the program is designed to help students develop necessary skills to be effective financial managers. This program has received AACSB accreditation.
