EGC Works #13: Teaching the concept of reciprocity via Bucket of Beans

The latest EGC Works podcast talks with Erick Rochette, lecturer in anthropology, who has developed the game Bucket of Beans for his cultural anthropology course.

The game is designed to do two things. These include helping students understand the difference between the concept of reciprocity that is practiced in some cultures and economic practices in Western societies, and challenging students to think from a perspective different than their own.

In the podcast, Erick and Daily Buzz editor/EGC Works host Jamie Oberdick discuss teaching cultural anthropology via a game, how the game works, and what help he received from the Educational Gaming Commons to make Bucket of Beans come to life.
