The Executive Officer

LTC John T. Tkach grew up in Plains, PA.  He attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Army ROTC Program in December 1978.  LTC Tkach spent 12 years on active duty from 1980 to 1992.  His assignments included Platoon Leader at Ft. Eustis, VA; Detachment Commander in Antarctica (Operation Deep Freeze); Operations Officer and Company Commander in Germany; and Battalion Operations Officer in Topeka, KS.  LTC Tkach left active duty and has served in a variety of assignments in the Army Reserve over the past 14 years.

LTC Tkach has been deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  The first deployment was as a Battalion Commander.  During that deployment, LTC Tkach’s battalion conducted Port Operations and Base Camp Operations at Kuwait Naval Base, Kuwait.  His soldiers and subordinate leaders successfully completed the movement of over 3000 containers of ammunition into and out of the port at Kuwait Naval Base.  The battalion also played a key role in the largest transition of forces since World War II when it supported the deployment and redeployment of over 5000 soldiers, sailors and marines transitioning Kuwait Naval Base; as well as wash rack operations for over 7000 pieces of military equipment leaving the theater.  LTC Tkach’s second deployment was with the Central Command’s Deployment and Distribution Operations Center (CDDOC) in Kuwait, where LTC Tkach served as the Senior Army Representative in the Operations Center’s Sustainment Division.  LTC Tkach was awarded the Joint Services Commendation Medal for his work while assigned to the CDDOC Sustainment Division.

LTC Tkach lives in Huntingdon, PA with his wife Debbie and children, Michael and Sarah.  Formerly employed as the Marketing Education Instructor at Huntingdon Area Vocational-Technical Center (9 years) and Business Occupations Instructor at SCI-Smithfield (4 years) and is also a volunteer coach with the Huntingdon High School “Bearcat” Football Team.
