The goals of the Penn State/ACRI Cocoa Biotechnology Program are:

·         To increase and stabilize cocoa production

·         To improve the economic status of cocoa farmers and producing countries

·         To protect rainforest habitat and associated species

·         To provide alternate crops to coca farmers
