The History News Service offers
op-ed pieces to the newspapers from historians in the United States and
Canada. HNS was founded in 1996 and now directly serves more than 90 newspapers.
Its pieces also are transmitted by Knight-Ridder Tribune news service. HNS
asks its historian writers to provide commentary with historical context
in order to contribute to public debate on current events or issues. HNS
averages about one piece a week. HNS does not charge for its service, asking
only that any honorariums be paid directly to the writer. HNS distributes
by e-mail. For more information, visit its Website at http://www.h-net.msu.edu/~hns/
. To subscribe, send the e-mail address you wish to receive pieces at to
thomas.harvey@m.cc.utah.edu
(or just click on the address).
