Instructions for baccalaureate degree candidates are included in information packets mailed to students who have declared their intent to graduate.

Graduates with Disabilities
Penn State encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. It is important that graduates notify the Office of University Relations (814-855-2501) if they anticipate needing any type of special accommodations.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q:  Where do students purchase caps, gowns, announcements and related commencement items?
A: The Penn State Bookstore.

Q: What if a student forgets to purchase a cap and gown?
A: The Penn State Bookstore is open all weekend during commencement for last minute caps and gowns.  

Q: Do those who attend need tickets?
A: No, tickets are not required for the ceremony.

Q:  How do students confirm that they have met all requirements for graduation?
A: Students may run a degree audit on e-Lion or you can go to the Academic Advising Office in 204 Carnegie Building for a walk in appointment with an adviser. Walk-ins are held Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or Tuesdays, 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Q: What time do students need to be at the Bryce Jordan Center?
A:  Graduates are asked to be at the BJC an hour before the ceremony and to REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR NAME CARDS

Q: What if a student loses their card or leaves it at home? 
A: There will be a registration table on the floor. Students will need to go to the table for their major and the assistant there will provide them with a replacement set.

Q: When do students get their diplomas? 
A: Diplomas are distributed to all graduates who have satisfied all University, College and major requirements immediately following the spring ceremony. For students that do not attend the spring ceremony or graduate in summer or fall, diplomas are mailed to your home address approximately three weeks after the ceremony.

Q: Is there a reception before or after the ceremony?
A:  There is no reception for spring or summer commencement. For those students graduating in the fall, the College does host a reception before the ceremony.  An invitation is mailed to the student approximately one month prior to commencement.
