Brenda Ross
Administrative Assistant, Department of Landscape Architecture
Brenda has been with PSU for 25 years. She came to the University in January of 1979 as a staff assistant at Pattee Library. From there, she worked in various places including the Admissions Office and the Office of Undergraduate Education in the President's Office. In 1995, she came to the department as an administrative assistant!

According to Brenda, "I have found my second home in the LArch department, where I will most likely retire. This department is unique in many ways, one being the genuine caring that faculty and staff have for our students, which the student reciprocates."

Brenda's primary responsibilities in the department include:

  • The management of daily administrative activities.
  • The management of departmental budgets and research grants monies.
  • Serving as primary editor/coordinator/writer of department newsletter.
  • The coordination of all arrangements for Bracken speakers, visiting lecturers and special receptions.
  • Working with graduate students thoughout their career at Penn State all the way through admissions to graduation. "I love this part of my job because it gives me the opportunity to converse with students from all over the world! I'm a strong believer that the first contact is the most important in building strong and lasting relationships--one that I believe is achieved with many of our students, graduate and undergraduate alike."

Brenda and her husband Paul enjoy gardening together and raising their children.
In her spare time, she says that she likes to draw and make crafts with her daughter, Cassondra and listen to her son, Dustin, pick tunes on his guitar. They share their home with Tyler, a 6" (and still growing) goldfish; George, a finicky Lizard Gecko; Precious, a Siamese cat who's 'all lady with an attitude', Autumn, a Jack Russell Terrier who thinks that she's human; an any other critters that the kids decide to adopt!
