In order to determine if a certain exception is permitted, a candidate must prepare a written petition requesting the exception. This petition must be prepared according to the procedures of the college, division, department, or program in which the candidate is enrolled and submitted to the appropriate office, normally prior to the beginning of classes of the semester in which the candidate enrolls in any course involved in the petition. A copy of all petitions after approval or disapproval must be forwarded to the candidate and to the chairperson of the candidate's program by the approval authority for the particular exception.
1. Each college dean is responsible for establishing procedures for degree candidates in their college to request exceptions to degree requirements and for establishing procedures for the approval or denial of such requests.
2. Upon approval of an exception, the college dean or academic department, if designated, will enter the exception information into ISIS using screen path ARUSDH. Exceptions entered into ISIS will appear on the student's degree audit report.
3. According to the procedures of the college, the student is informed of the approval or denial of an exception request.
4. The Registrar's office is responsible for providing training to the colleges and academic departments for exception data entry and for assisting the colleges and departments with this process as needed.
