Master Drawings from the Collection of Alfred Moir
October 10-December 10, 2000

The art historian Alfred Moir began to acquire an art collection in 1948 during a visit to Europe. About twenty years later, he began to focus on the field of old master drawings, mainly Italian, dating from the 16th through the 18th centuries. This exhibition, organized by The Minneapolis Institute of Arts, features seventy-six drawings from Moir's extensive collection and includes works by Domenico Beccafumi, Federico Zuccaro, Annibale and Ludovico Carracci, Pietro da Cortona, Salvator Rosa, Giovani Battista, and Domenico Tiepolo. The large selection of Italian drawings is complemented by a group of French, Dutch, German, English, Russian, and Spanish works. The exhibition is accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue with an essay by Alfred Moir.
