Applicant Fingerprints (Non-Educational employment)

University Police provides the service of completing applicant fingerprints for current Penn State students and employees. Individuals are required to present valid government issued photo identification, to include: a driver's license, a passport, a US Active Duty/Retiree/Reservist Military ID card, etc.

The individual's fingerprints will be printed on a standard Applicant fingerprint card (FD-258), unless another fingerprint card is provided. University Police will not submit any paperwork/fingerprint cards nor can they provide any information as to details or the progress of any background check.

Friday 8:00 am until 5:00 pm

PA Department of Education & Department of Public Welfare Applicant Fingerprints

University Police is proud to provide fingerprinting services for individuals required to be fingerprinted for employment or student teaching at a school in accordance with Act 114 of 2006, Section 111 of the Public School Code. Also, those required to be fingerprinted as a prospective foster or adoptive parent as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, Section 6344 of Title 23, Pa. C.S. Chapter 63 (relating to the Child Protective Services Law). These agencies have contracted with Cogent Systems to complete the background checks.

Individuals are required to register prior to the fingerprinting process, which can be completed at https://www.pa.cogentid.com, and must present valid government issued photo identification, to include: a driver's license, a passport, a US Active Duty/Retiree/Reservist Military ID card, etc.

The individual's fingerprints will be transmitted electronically to the Pennsylvania State Police, who will then submit them to the FBI. University Police can not provide any information as to details or the progress of any background check.

Criminal Fingerprints

University Police no longer processes persons with criminal fingerprint orders. A Central Booking Center has been established at the Centre County Correctional Facility. Please refer any questions regarding hours of operation and/or procedures to the Central Booking Center (814) 355-6794.
