The Office of Planning and Institutional Assessment facilitates the University's planning, improvement and assessment initiatives.
The Office uses organizational change tools to help departments and units develop strategic plans, improve key processes, assess institutional needs, and develop collaborative team environments.
Services of the Office of Planning and Institutional Assessment are provided free of charge to The Pennsylvania State University and are adapted to the specific needs of departments or individuals.

Core Council committee finds millions of dollars in cost-savings - Penn State Live article (August 28, 2011) - When Penn State's tuition rates were approved by the Board of Trustees in July, the increase was much lower than expected, given the 19 percent cut to the University's state appropriation. Part of the reason the University was able to keep tuition down was the work done by the Core Council, chaired by Executive Vice President and Provost Rod Erickson, and the Academic and Administrative Services Review Coordinating Committee, led by Al Horvath, senior vice president for Finance and Business. Reports
The Faculty Tenure-Flow Rates: 2010-11 Annual Report is now available. This report provides information about recent and longitudinal tenure achievement rates for provisionally appointed faculty. It shows, for example, that since 1990, fifty-seven percent of provisional faculty have achieved tenure within seven years at Penn State. The report also places Penn State’s data into a national context.
OPIA provides data each year to the Senate Committee on Faculty Benefits for its annual faculty salary report to the University Faculty Senate. The committee’s March 15, 2011 summary report, which contains a link to all 62 pages of detailed tables, is now publicly available.
