The Office of Planning and Institutional Assessment facilitates the University's planning, improvement and assessment initiatives.

The Office uses organizational change tools to help departments and units develop strategic plans, improve key processes, assess institutional needs, and develop collaborative team environments.

Services of the Office of Planning and Institutional Assessment are provided free of charge to The Pennsylvania State University and are adapted to the specific needs of departments or individuals.

What's New

Juran Winners Announced - Each year, the Joseph M. Juran Center of the University of Minnesota selects and honors doctoral candidates whose research shows the most promise in broadening and fueling thinking and practices in the area of quality-related research in their chosen fields. Two Juran Fellows were selected this year from among 18 applicants. Alinda Kokkinou, Health and Human Development, Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management, was a winner from Penn State. The Juran Fellows receive $5000 awards to expand their quality research and its applications.

The Penn State Board of Trustees, on May 15, 2009, approved the Priorities for Excellence: Penn State's Strategic Plan for 2009-10 through 2013-14. Penn State faculty, staff, and students are invited to read the strategic plan.

Reports

The Faculty Tenure-Flow Rates: 2008-09 Annual Report is now available. This report shows the tenure achievement rates for provisionally appointed faculty over the past twelve years. Since 1990, fifty-seven percent of provisional faculty have achieved tenure within seven years at Penn State.

Faculty Exit Study November 2008 edition is now available. The report is an annual effort led by the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and offers each tenured or tenure-track faculty member who is leaving Penn State an opportunity to participate in an exit interview, an exit survey, or both. The goal is to better understand the experiences of tenure-track faculty members at Penn State and to respond to faculty concerns. The 2007-2008 fiscal year marks the eleventh year for this project.
