Many organizations offer private scholarships to students who demonstrate scholastic merit or meet specific eligibility criteria. If you feel you are eligible for any of the following scholarships, please use the contact information provided.

BIG TEN NETWORK "BTN Live BIG" Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be enrolled full-time at a Big Ten University.
  • Must volunteer at least ten hours between September 6, 2011 and December 9, 2011.

AFSCME-UNCF-Harvard LWP Union Scholars Program

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a second semester sophomore or junior during the application and interview process.
  • Must be majoring in American Studies, Anthropology, Economics, Ethnic Studies, History, Labor Studies, Political Science, Psychology, Public Policy, Social Work, Sociology, or Women's Studies.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Must be of African American, Hispanic American, Asian Pacific Islander or American Indian/Alaskan Native heritage.
  • Must demonstrate an interest in working for social and economic justice through the labor movement.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund 2012-13 College Scholarship Program

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund manages awards from several corporations, including Honda and Marathon Oil Company.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be of Hispanic heritage.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Must have applied for federal financial aid by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
  • Must be enrolled full-time in a degree seeking program in an accredited U.S. college for the entire academic year.
  • Available to both undergraduate and graduate students.

  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 for your two most recent semesters.
  • Family home must be located in western Pennsylvania. For a complete list of counties, please visit the Addison H. Gibson Foundation Web site.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program.
  • Must have completed at least one full-time year of studies in your current degree program within the last four months.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.
  • Existing debt must fall within existing foundation parameters. You must be prepared to discuss cumulative educational and credit card debts.
