DOUG'S TIP OF THE MONTH
If you are having problems volleying, remember this tip... If you have a high volley, say goodbye and be aggressive; if it is low, hit it slow and finesse the volley back deep in the court; if the volley is around waist level, be solid and aim deep.
DOUG'S CORNER

This summer is moving along much too fast, and things at the Tennis Center are busier than ever. The women's Flex League is underway with many matches being played, and many more to be played. Barbara Snow will be joining the White Division. Each week one player in each division was supposed to have a bye; instead of having a bye, you will now be playing either Carol or Barbara. If you have any questions concerning the additions of Carol or Barbara, please contact Doug in the Pro Shop. After playing your flex league matches, please report the scores promptly to the Pro Shop attendant. In order for the league to be successful, please play as many matches as possible during the week you are scheduled to play them. Keep playing your scheduled matches, and have fun with the league!

The Penn State Tennis Center Junior Development programs are moving forward and continuing to grow throughout the summer. Our Advanced Camp has expanded, and we have many up and coming junior players. The clinic for Tots, Beginners, and Intermediates continue to draw new players from around the area. If you know of any junior players, please encourage them to sign up for our next session in August or during the fall and winter months. Our next session begins August 8, and the clinics are scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Please call Doug or ask about more details in the Pro Shop.

The last official week of Team Tennis will be August 3, but we have two weeks to make up. Thursday, August 10 will be the make up date for the second week of Team Tennis, and Thursday, August 17 will be the make up date for the fourth week of Team Tennis. Please check with your captains about your availability for both of these dates. In order for Team Tennis to move smoother, please let your captain know ahead of time if you cannot make Thursday nights Team Tennis. Another way to help your captains make the line ups faster and better, is to try to show up at 5:45 PM on Thursday night so play can begin promptly at 6:00 PM. If you have not already paid for Team Tennis, please see the attendant in the Pro Shop to take care of the $30.00 fee.
