LETTER FROM THE SUPERVISOR

Dear Members,

Summer is in full swing and so are we here at the Penn State Tennis Center! I am very pleased to annouce the renovation project on the outside of the building is complete. I hope everyone has had a chance to see the finished product, it truly looks like a new building from the outside. Soon we will begin work on the inside of the facility, as well as the construction of the new atrium. At the time of this newsletter, I still do not have a start date on the clay court renovations, but as many of you can see, the materials and supplies for the project have been delivered. We will notify everyone as soon as we have an official start date. Keep in mind all clay courts will be closed between 7-10 days for renovations.

The third leg of the PSU Grand Prix was held July 29-30 and once again there was some terrific tennis played. For those of you who have not played in the Grand Prix yet, I encourage you to give it a try. It's a great opportunity to play people you have not played before and to socialize between matches. The next Grand Prix is scheduled for August 25-27, and the Grand Finale is set for October 13-15.

In this month's newsletter, you will find information on all of the programming in progress, as well as Executive Committee news and information on our summer shoe sale. The newsletter is our way to communicate to the membershiip all that is happening at the Tennis Center and how it may affect your tennis plans. We strive to put together a comprehensive newsletter to keep you informed. So please take a few minutes each month to read your newsletter.

We now have a new way to reach out to our membership! Along with your monthly newsletter, we now have our webpage. It contains each of our newsletters, as well as information on programming events and tournament results. The webpage is very user friendly (take it from me), and is a great tool to get information at the touch of a button. Our web address is http://www.psu.edu/dept/tennis_center. Please check it out and let us know what you think of it.

I hope everyone continues to have a great summer and we hope to see everyone at next month's Grand Prix.

Sincerely,

Eric Dove
Supervisor, USPTA
