As we prepare for the upcoming indoor season, I just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone who participated in all of the summer events. We had a great summer, getting some new programs started, having the Grand Prix tournaments, and an increase in play. Eric and I are looking at a variety of programs for the upcoming winter season. Two of the new programs for the indoor season are the Men's and Women's Flex Leagues. This signups for the Men's flex league is great, we have 15 men signed up so far. On the women's side, we only have a few women signed up. Those of you looking for more singles play, playing a match a week, and getting to know more players, please sign up in the pro shop or ask Doug or Eric for more details. I am excited about our Junior Development Program right now. Our October session has exploded and we are looking forward to the program growing for the upcoming November and December session. Due to court availability, we are moving the Junior Development Clinics to Sundays. In past years, our program has been a success. I am going to try and keep the momentum going. I have hired three assistants to help me with our clinics on Sundays. They are David Price, who many of you know from his time working at the tennis center as well as from coaching the High School Boys Team, Marc McCallister, and Adam Marcus. Mark McCallister was a member of the Penn State Varsity Men's Team for two years and has been helping teach many of the elite players in the Chicago area during the summer months. Adam Marcus was a Division III standout at Binghamton University and has four years of teaching experience. I am looking forward to their help in running an excellent Junior Development Program. If you need more information about the program, please call the Pro Shop at 865-1381 and ask for Doug. Come meet and play with the Penn State Men's and Women's Varsity Tennis Teams on November 11th from 9-2pm. We are hosting a member social with the Varsity Teams with all proceeds going to the Varsity Booster Clubs. We will be using a Round Robin format, having each member signed up playing with 8 different players from each team. We already have eight women signed up, but only have 2 men signed up to play in the social. If you do not want to play, come out and watch the event and meet the coaches and players. For more information, contact the Pro Shop at 865-1381. |
