The Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs conducts 4-5 half-day Academic Leadership Forum (ALF) sessions each year for our deans, associate deans, department heads, and other academic administrators. An ALF planning committee helps to identify topics and speakers for the sessions. The topics vary each year depending upon what contemporary issues are occurring in higher education and more specifically at Penn State.
Academic Leadership Forums are by invitation only. Unless noted, all meetings are 8:00 a.m.-12:00 noon starting with a continental breakfast at 8:00 a.m

Location: Boardroom, The Nittany Lion Inn, University Park
Topic: Building Your Culture of Assessment
This ALF is being planned in response to our Middle States accreditation review that was completed last year. A monitoring report must be submitted by April 2017 that responds to 5 recommendations. One recommendation has direct impact on all of our academic administrators: "Penn State must articulate statements and means of assessment for expected student learning outcomes for all programs and at all levels, undergraduate and graduate, certificate and non-credit programs." Our review also highlighted the need for more infrastructure and resources to comply with the mandates of Middle States and our program accrediting bodies.
