Feeling Left Out: Coping with Homesickness Do you miss your family, friends, or hometown? You're not alonehomesickness is something many students feel to one degree or another. Dealing with homesickness gives you the opportunity for personal growth and to develop coping strategies that will benefit you personally and professionally throughout your lifetime. The transition from high school to college usually involves moving away from home and leaving family and friends, often resulting in feelings of homesickness and isolation. One way to cope with homesickness and to begin to feel more comfortable at Penn State is to make new friends. One of the best ways to make new friends is to get involved in student organizations and other on-campus and off-campus activities. No matter what your interests are, there are many ways to get involved. You can also take advantage of these opportunities to develop new interests. |
