Center for Excellence in Academic AdvisingEntrance-to-Major Requirements Smeal College of Business
† This major is under administrative enrollment controls. Students must complete required courses by the end of the entrance-to-major pool semester. Students must have the stated CGPA at the end of the semester preceding the pool semester to be guaranteed entrance to this major. However, If there is still space after all of the students who meet these criteria have been accepted, selections are made from the remaining students in the pool of applicants, starting with the highest GPA, until the approved maximum number of students to enter the major is reached. No student with less than a 2.00 cumulative GPA is accepted (University Undergraduate Advising Handbook). ‡ Students must attain the required CGPA for the major by the end of the fall semester preceding the pool semester and maintain that CGPA through to the end of the spring pool semester. * A grade of C or higher is required. # Based upon the review of the Central Enrollment Management Group, and beginning with students entering Penn State summer or fall 2007, any students not admitted to the Smeal College of Business must earn a 3.00 cumulative GPA at the end of their freshman year (completion of the second semester) to be eligible for a Smeal major. All students must also meet the entrance to major requirements for the Smeal program of interest as stipulated in the applicable entrance to major requirements for students in their sophomore year and be enrolled in DUS prior to the entrance-to-major process. It is important to note that the two semester GPA requirement will include fall and spring semesters only. Generally, a student beginning during summer semester would have the subsequent fall and spring semesters to meet the 3.00 cumulative GPA requirement. A student beginning in the fall semester would have that fall semester and the following spring semester to meet the 3.00 cumulative GPA requirement. And, a student beginning in the spring semester would have that spring and the following fall semester to meet the 3.00 cumulative GPA requirement. Back | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
