Unique Opportunities for DISCOVER House Residents
- DISCOVER House students may elect to enroll in courses with space reserved especially for them.
- Advisers, students, and faculty from the various academic colleges present programs that introduce its majors, requirements, career opportunities, and special features such as internships or international study.
- Faculty members from many departments visit to meet informally with residents.
- Academic advisers conduct workshops that help students evaluate their interests, values, and talents and match them with academic majors.
- The staff arranges small group meetings with career counselors and guests from a variety of professions.
- There are opportunities for community service with housemates.
- Students attend special events with distinguished guests from many walks of life.
- There are leadership opportunities with the DISCOVER House Council and in planning house programs.
Pollock Halls is the third-largest residence area on campus. Special features include the Pollock Laptop Library, a computer lab, a women's health clinic, The Mix (a venue that features a convenience store, a coffee bar, a grill area, and a stage for live entertainment), and Pollock Dining Commons. A Residential Computing (ResCom) Office in located in Pollock Commons—and is staffed by students who are experienced in assisting with various computer issues.
Pollock has male, female, and coed residence halls, and most residents share a double room with one roommate.
Pollock is centrally located just blocks away from McCoy Natatorium (swimming pools), tennis courts, the varsity track and field facility, Greenberg Indoor Sports Complex (an ice skating rink), Eisenhower Auditorium, and HUB-Robeson Center.
