ENTRANCE CRITERIA FOR TEACHER CERTIFICATION

General information on teacher education programs (including information about certification) is in the College of Education Advising Handbook. Entry-level certification for teaching in public schools is provided at "Instructional I" along with a list of subject areas. For more information, contact the appropriate academic advising center at University Park or another Penn State campus, the department offering the program, or the University Office of Certification and Education Services, 228 Chambers Building, 814-865-0488.

Students enrolled in teacher education/certification programs (along with students pursuing certification in conjunction with other majors) must fulfill specific entrance and exit criteria. The College of Education Web page outlines these criteria.

The University may make changes in policies, procedures, educational offerings, and requirements at any time. Please consult a Penn State academic adviser for more detailed information.
