The account is provided to any student who has registered for one or more credits and has paid the information technology fee. See the Penn State Access Account Web site for information on how to obtain your account.
Faculty members may use Penn State's course management system, ANGEL, to provide students with course materials, e.g., syllabi, schedules, announcements, lecture notes, quizzes, and multimedia resources. Students use ANGEL to submit course work, communicate with instructors and classmates, keep track of class assignments, and check grades for online quizzes and assignments completed in ANGEL.
Windows, Macintosh, Linux, and UNIX computer labs are provided for general academic use, instruction, and research. A comprehensive suite of software is provided for a wide variety of tasks ranging from word processing to statistical analysis, with full access to the Internet. Student computer consultants are available in most labs. Solaris and AIX machines are available for remote access via the ITS UNIX cluster.
Academically priced software, hardware, peripherals, and supplies can be purchased online or at one of two locations of the Computer Store on the University Park campus: 12 Willard Building and the HUB Showroom. Free pre-sales consulting is available in person at 12 Willard, by phone at 814-865-2100 or 800-251-9281, or by sending e-mail to computerstore@psu.edu.
The ITS Help Desk provides Help Sources to answer a variety of technology questions. Computing assistance is available at Help Desk locations in 6 Willard Building and 204 Wagner Building and at many computer labs. To contact consultants, students can stop in, call 814-863-1035 or 814-863-2494, or write to helpdesk@psu.edu.
ITS provides short videos that offer a quick tour of some Information Technology Services.
The ITS Web site provides information on essential student services: ANGEL, eLion, WebMail, and more.
ITS provides Safe Computing information on installing and updating virus protection software and security patches on a regular basis to secure computers against viruses, worms, and intrusion attempts.
The University may make changes in policies, procedures, educational offerings, and requirements at any time. Please consult a Penn State academic adviser for more detailed information.
