The Mentor is pleased to announce its ninth annual Academic Advising Writing Competition. The purpose of the competition is to stimulate discussion about academic advising in higher education. The competition is also designed to promote, recognize, and reward exemplary writing on topics related to advising.
The deadline for submitting entries for this year's competition is November 30, 2009. The winning entry will be announced in early 2010 and will be published in The Mentor. The author of the winning entry will receive a $500 cash award.
Competition Topic
This year, The Mentor is celebrating its first ten years of publication. In those ten years, much has changed in the field of academic advising.
What do you think academic advising will be like in another ten years?
In crafting your essay in response to this topic, you may want to consider factors such as future technologies, student characteristics and changing populations, increases in distance education, the nature of the advising profession, and others of your choosing.
