book   Advising Forum

  Topic from February 2006
Are sophomores our undergraduate orphans? Much attention has been given to the advising of first-year students; juniors have finally declared a major, and seniors are preparing for graduation and their first jobs. But what about our sophomores? How do their advising needs change from their first year? How much advising do they really need? How can advisers help sophomores remain connected to their institutions and prepare for declaration of major, study abroad, internships, etc? What should our institutions do to understand and provide for the special advising needs of sophomores? What's your opinion?
